Do you know how to bake bread at home? How did you learn? Not saying our kids will ever go hungry if there are no bread makers, but this is a non-negotiable skill to teach my kids before they are out on their own. And….
This is a MUST in the summertime! It is true there is nothing like fresh, warm bread during a winter storm, but I’ve got quite a few reasons to support summer baking:
- Successful dough rising in Summer heat is easier than blowing your budget at Costco. Let the heat work for you!
- Kids can be present for the entire process. It’s a great ‘filler’ with lot’s of breaks to read, take a walk or heaven bless you with a nap…When they are at school, kids don’t get to see bread from tiny specks of stinky yeast all the way to full-blown glorious baked loaves.
- Don’t discredit the memory making experience. It sounds crazy, but one bread baking event will be talked about forever!
Happy bread-making and I would LOVE to get pictures. I will post them when I get them….for some heavy-duty healthy bread making, check out my friend at Dip Makes Me Happy.
My favorite homeade bread recipe is for French Bread. It is a to-die-for result and oh so easy,

Awww, thanks for the plug! I actually got the copyright permission to publish some of the recipes. I just haven’t gotten around to posting all my favorites with all the things I’m required to say, in order to do it.
I agree – there is nothing like fresh warm bread – anytime. I love it. In fact, two separate people brought me fresh bread on Sunday for my birthday – Cherish included. Couldn’t have had a better gift! And I can’t wait for Cherish to post her recipes.
Happy Birthday Amy! let me guess…..23? You look fabulous EVERY time I see you:)
It was good to see you the other night. I was hoping you would have up dated you site after the talk we had. (lol) I am looking forward to see what you post next. Hopefully sooner than later.
